We spent three weeks in Thailand, staying in Bangkok, Chang
Mai and mostly Phuket, and taking a few tours in each area. Saw some temples
and the Grand Palace in Bangkok, rode a long-tail canal boat, visited the ruins
of Ayuthaya. We rode an elephant, took a bamboo raft (submarine) ride, petted
tigers and snakes, and rode ziplines near Chang Mai. In Phukey, we relaxed a
bit (although Patong Beach, where we stayed, is a pretty lively town).
We learned to scuba dive properly, went down 12m and saw lion
fish, moray eel, trigger fish, and lots more. We took a boat tour to Phangnga
Bay and rode inflatable canoes around and through the limestone formations,
and took another boat ride to Phi Phi Islands, where we fed monkeys, snorkelled,
swam, and saw more amazing rock formations, including cliffs rising 300m straight
up out of the ocean, and dripping with ancient stalactite formations. On the
way home, we had one day to quickly explore Hong Kong.
